Getting Involved

Engaging with your child's education starts here

PGO Volunteer Opportunities

The Wildwood PGO is an organization that relies entirely on volunteers. There are always opportunities to get involved with the PGO, with varying levels of time commitment, experience, and availability required.

Whether you’re looking to get more involved in helping support ongoing programming, updating our online resources, working with our thriving donor community, or helping out at events only every once in a while, there is something for everyone!

Volunteering for the Wildwood PGO is also a great way to get to know other Wildwood families. Passionate about our children’s education, PGO volunteers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, and getting to know one another during school events is a great way to make long-lasting connections.

To volunteer with the PGO, take a look at the opportunity descriptions below and complete our PGO Volunteer form. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch!

Become A Class Parent

Looking to get involved directly with your child's classroom experience? Consider becoming a class parent! Class parents support teachers through parent/caregiver communication, coordinating class meet-ups at local playgrounds, helping with in-class activities, and more! This is a great way for getting to know your child's classmates better, and seeing their educational process 'in action.' All experience levels welcomed.

Engage Our Donor Base

The work of the PGO is generously supported by donor organizations throughout the district. #GivingTuesday and #WildwoodGives are two major fundraisers held in the fall and spring, and many passive fundraising programs have been established to fund our work throughout the year. Opportunities to volunteer include communicating with local businesses, working with our Treasurer to streamline financial operations, and helping manage the collection of donations. All experience levels welcomed.

Program and Event Coordination

All great programs and events need great coordinators - could that be you? We are always looking for volunteers with a passion for helping organize programs and orchestrate people. This role involves attending PGO core monthly meetings, creating, distributing, and collecting information flyers, maintain databases of volunteers throughout the school year, and contacting PGO event volunteers and the broader Wildwood community with updates on a regular basis. All experience levels welcomed, must be comfortable in communicating frequently with volunteers and other community members on a regular basis via email, phone, or other appropriate format.

PGO Leadership

Volunteering for a leadership position in the PGO is a great way to engage with the PGO and school administration on a regular basis, and get to know the curriculum, policy decision-making processes, and the pathway to make new recommendations and substantive change to your child's educational environment. Co-chairs, Treasurer, Secretary, Fundraising Coordinator, and Web Content Coordinator are all leadership positions for which we are receiving applications on a rolling basis. Some experience relevant to the focus of the position is required.

Communications and Outreach

Engaged communities rely on a strong foundation of communication. We are always looking for Wildwood parents who are interested in sharing their experiences, news, and updates by writing blog posts or articles for our newsletter. If you are a shutterbug (is that even still a thing in this digital age?), we are always in need of fresh engaging images and posts on our social media channels. Like to operate behind the scenes? Responding to email inquiries from parents and developing new online forms for engagement are also needed. Some experience with online communications and platforms appreciated, but not required.
